The Emoji Movie Storyline: The Emoji Movie unlocks the never-before-seen secret world inside your smartphone. Hidden within the messaging app is Textopolis, a bustling city where all your favorite emojis live, hoping to be selected by the phone's user. In this world, each emoji has only one facial expression - except for Gene, an exuberant emoji who was born without a filter and is bursting with multiple expressions. Determined to become "normal" like the other emojis, Gene enlists the help of his handy best friend Hi-5 and the notorious code breaker emoji Jailbreak. Together, they embark on an epic "app-venture" through the apps on the phone, each its own wild and fun world, to find the Code that will fix Gene. But when a greater danger threatens the phone, the fate of all emojis depends on these three unlikely friends who must save their world before it's deleted forever.

I've Lost My Will to Live
I saw this movie with my friends, thinking we could have some fun by making fun of this, knowing it would be horrible. But we didn't realize how awful it would be.

The movie is written by an obvious sociopath trying to convince everyone that they are a completely normal person, with lines like "Just play it cool and send her an Emoji," or "Oh, I hate knocking over the elderly." The delivery of said lines just drives this point home: nobody says any line in any kind of convincing or believable manner, just with some random emotional inflection that vaguely applies to the matters at hand.

The characters are equally baffling as well: most characters have no arc whatsoever and just end the movie exactly where they started, but the few that do have "character development" accomplish that within 5 minutes of their internal conflict being introduced. There is a scene in which Anna Farris's character tells T.J. Miller's that she's always "looking out for number one," he gives a ham-fisted line that was supposed to be profound, and she immediately decides that she agrees with him. Meanwhile, they are having this conversation immediately after they believe James Corden's character has DIED, and are treating that fact as though it was a mild inconvenience.

Plus, this movie also just doesn't have any rules whatsoever. James Corden, while trapped in the trash, read an e-mail that was never sent, and thus Anna Farris never had any access to because it was trashed immediately. As soon as he brings it up, however, Anna Farris IMMEDIATELY finds it and can read it perfectly easily. Then, just a short scene later, one single Emoji DOWNLOADS THE SOURCE CODE TO THE CLOUD. Because yeah, you can just do that. And at the movie's climax, everyone dies, but then are brought back to life because Jake T. Austin's human character unplugged his phone from the 'Phone Delete Machine,' because yep, that's how phones work.

The attempts at 'humor' caused me to legitimately tug at my hair and curl inward in my seat. My friends and I were completely floored by the sheer absurdity that was this movie, and when we left the theater, we were physically exhausted. I had a splitting headache after it was all said and done, and when someone else asked me how I felt about it, I was just at a loss. I don't know if I can even go on anymore, having experienced the sheer soul-sucking emotional black hole that is the Emoji Movie.

The Mona Lisa of Films
I...I don't even know where to begin. It's been 5 days since I watched the Emoji movie and I still can't get it out of my head. Never in my life would I have thought that a movie of such exquisite beauty could EVER exist. But here it is, and it has exceeded all expectations. Tony Leondis has hereby proved to be the first homo universalis of the 21st century, and should, in my humble opinion, be honored with the Nobel Peace Prize of 2017, for bringing people together and almost creating world peace. Of course there will always be people that envy successful people like Tony Leondis, but we should all just dab on the haters to let them know we do not f*ck around. I'm heavily looking forward to Mr. Leondis' upcoming project, which is supposedly going to be featuring fidget spinners. This man definitely knows how to save humanity.

The closest thing to perfection Hollywood has ever produced.
This touching and heart warming film is the most perfect celebration of the human spirit I have seen. This inspiring story is interwoven with a soundtrack which invokes every emotion, from haunting and chilling, to stirring and beautiful. When you go to see a movie and it touches you with its poetry, music, and its atmosphere, and leaves you with a sense of victorious satisfaction, it is a triumph. Truly a masterpiece.

Don't believe all the horrible reviews
I always liked Maya Rudolph, so I saw this flick and enjoyed it a lot. Miss Rudolph was great as the Smiley Emoji who was also the ruthless dictator of Textopolis. She did lots of evil with that huge grin permanently affixed over her entire body. The CGI was excellent and the plot was entertaining and I had a good movie-going experience. Not exactly a classic, but quite good by my standards.

Then I read some critics' reviews and I wondered if I had seen the same movie. It was unrelenting bashing and a competition to see who could be the most insulting. Critics are frequently stampeded into Groupthink and are often simply afraid to go against the general consensus for fear of appearing to be less hip than all their associates, so I didn't think much of it.

Then I saw some of the IMDb user reviews. Wow! Everybody was clearly on the edge of suicide just from watching a cartoon. Or else they were contemplating poking their own eyes out with barbecue forks in order to avoid the chance of ever seeing "The Emoji Movie" again, or anything else even close to being that horrendous.

So anyway, I thought I'd throw my own thoughts out there just for the heck of it. like I said, "Emoji" gave me a lot of laughs and a good time. To me, it doesn't even remotely resemble the reviews I read, and I recommend you give it a try if you're interested and are not scared away by all the negativity.

Not as good as Toy story and Wreck it Ralph, but still underrated as far as I'm concerned
Not as good as Toy story and Wreck it Ralph, but still quite underrated as far as I'm concerned. It is funny in parts, a little sad in others and touching here and there, so while even for me it does not quite rank with the movies "Toy Story" and "Wreck-it Ralph", I think you and your children should still watch it. I am quite likely to buy it on DVD when it comes out

Funny Movie for Young Audiences
I'm not sure of WHY there are very low ratings. It's a good and funny kid's movie! There was a plot and I thought the movie flowed very well. I truly enjoyed laughing at the characters on screen. PLEASE take young kids. They WILL enjoy themselves. Tweens and older kids may not enjoy it, as much.

If cancer was a person, this would be it...
The title speaks for itself...

No, literally this is actual cancer in its purest form. I never thought we would stoop this low but seems like we actually made it.

There are no words to describe how ungodly this is. It seems like Jesus won't be visiting us after all.

Humanity has jumped the shark.

An EMOJInal experience
The Emoji movie has to be the best film since Nativity 3. It showed how anything and everything can be loved. At some points I could feel the tears rolling down my cheeks. When I came out of the cinema I wish I could see it a billion more times, so that's what I did. Go see it with your family and friends. Best film.
