Amazing beautiful and creative
This is the story of a fairy that wants to go on the snowy side of the land. Fairies that live on the cold side cannot go on the warmer side of the fairy land and fairies on the warmer side cannot go on the cold side for safety reasons.

One of the fairies - Tinkerbell wants to go to the colder side and speak with the Keeper who wrote a book about fairy wings. She makes a winter outfit for herself and sneaks into a basket carried by winter owls over to the snowy side of the land.

The colors of the land are created beautiful. The flower fields are animated and a layer of flowers in purple open up across the screen.

A rainbow is also animated that goes across the screen that goes into the fields. There is also a very colorful field of butterflies on grass, all beautifully animated.

Two male friends of Tinker are very creative and make a machine that produces snow for a fairy coming over from the cold side.

The scenery is beautiful, the story is funny, very sweet and joyful. It is a wonderful movie for people of any age to see. It is like being in a beautiful fantasy land with characters that are creative, kind and helpful.

Charming fun for young 'uns
It does annoy me when films are judged under a complete misunderstanding of for whom they are intended. I can only imagine that the relatively low rating for this film on this site is due in most part due to viewers seeing this and forgetting it's aimed at 3 to 7 year old girls. I bet most of the voters aren't 3 to 7 year old girls.

I can only endorse the comments of the other posters so far who have all enjoyed it and whose children have enjoyed it. I took my 5 year old today and she loved it. We had only seen the previous Tinkerbells on DVD so I was a tad surprised to see this turn up in the cinema (but not in 3D - glory be!) but I thought it was a decent enough effort which pushed all the right buttons, in the right order, and didn't outstay its welcome. They say that when you notice the backgrounds in a film the plot has lost you, but in this case I don't think that's true; I found the contrasting depictions of the winter/summer fairy lands quite spectacular, adding to the film. Not to mention the animals' furs and feathers...! Good work.

Obviously as an Englishman and childhood fan of Peter Pan I baulk somewhat at the Disney version of Tinkerbell, but as a father of 5 year old Fairy-obsessive, it is what it is. And it does what it sets out to do - quite well, I think.

Mild spoiler: My daughter got upset when the sisters were told they could never see each other again; nevertheless there is no antagonism, peril or violence to put off younger children.

DVD is certainly its natural home, but of its type (and I don't mean anything bad by that) this is pretty good and I think young children would enjoy it very much. Some grown-ups might, too.

Tink gets a winter surprise
I bought the Blu-Ray of "The Secret of the Wings" after having seen badly ripped tidbits of it. The tiny bits that I saw (in a rather crappy quality) made me wonder about the rest of the movie, and I decided to just buy the movie.

Now, I have to admit that Disney's fairies are kind of a guilty pleasure for this grown-up geek. I know they are, basically, meant for kids, however, there are enough little jokes and visual gags that go over the heads of little ones, to entertain grown-ups too.

Aside from the gags and little in-jokes, the high quality blu-ray visuals are absolutely stunning, even in 2d. The color palette is gorgeous, atmospheric and translates very well to a smaller screen. The animation is very good. Some mo capping seems to have been used, but not consistently. Frankly that's a bit of a shame. Kids won't notice, but this art-school drop-out noticed that the upper-torso movements, the little twitches that every human has, were captured in sheer perfection, and show the craft of the Disney animators. However, walking animations, and animal animations were not very convincing and pulled me a bit out of the "immersion" The snow-owls were adequate, but the lynx was absolutely not.. Nit-picking, I know.

And while I am at it, the "songs" were an uninspired atrocity, belted-out by some talentless, soulless...person.. Brrrr. The rest of the music was good, with nice little touches of classical pieces. Listen f.i. careful to the theme played when Tinkerbell and her sister, Periwinkle "dance" around each other for the first time.

The story on its own was a nice adventure bit, with some really funny characters that were brought to joyful life by an excellent combo of very talented voice-actors (and some big names at that..) and the Disney animators that, as already stated, absolutely know their craft.

All in all movies like this show that CGI doesn't have to be lifeless shiny stuff, and prove that in the hands of people that know what they are doing, can be just as charming (and tugging at your heart-strings) as drawn animation.

On a side-note: What struck me, was an underlying message that girls can do technical stuff too. Tinkerbell designs, and builds a snow-maker with the help of the other girls. The boys just deliver the parts. Tinkerbell..well.. She "tinkers" and is still, undoubtedly a girl. That's an on-going theme in the Disney-fairy movies and shorts. I think it is a really good, empowering thing for girls to be told:"yes, you can/may build technical gizmo's. It's not just a boy-thing, or a weird geek-thing".

Im 22 yrs old and I really enjoyed this movie
I got this a while back as I enjoyed its 2010 prequel Tinkerbell and The Great Fairy Rescue and I really found this one HIGHLY entertaining.

Tinkerbell discovers another world where she's from called the winter valley and she decides to go check it out,but what she is about to discover are some secrets that no one told her about.... she really has another sister who is in fact her twin voiced by Lucy Hale called Periwinkle and the two discover the meaning of friendship and trust but one person in particular is not happy that Tinkerbell found her other half voiced by Timothy Dalton. So its up to Tinkerbell to show Periwinkle where she is from putting jeopardy at risk.

The story is really cute and the animation is gorgeous.Overall I really liked this film and im giving it an 8/10

Keep an eye out for the song Great Divide by The McClain Sisters. Its a nice song.

Tinkering Tales
Innocent and endearing Tinker Bell (Mae Whitman) returns with another tale from the magical realms of faeries. Summer fairies and winter fairies don't mix, as nature has planned each of their roles with forethought. The wings of one will freeze in the cold, while the others whittle away in the heat. Thus both lands are separated with fairies in both quarters bringing harmony across the divide. Nonetheless Tinker Bell was never one to avoid adventure and enchanted by the snowy bliss of winter decides to cross to the forbidden other side, where see encounters her white-haired twin Perriwinkle (Lucy Hale). These events counter the rules of both faerie clans, placing them in conflict with Lord Milori (Timothy Dalton) of the Winter Faeries and Queen Clarion (Anjelica Huston) of the Summer Faeries.

Full of sparkle and some charming characters, Tinker Bell's adventures in Never Never Land are just what they must be: an engrossing experience of wonder for youthful eyes, devoid of unnecessary brutality or subtextual messages for adults (well... not entirely... but almost). Thus a movie focused directly towards its target audience, but with enough sweet allure to at least keep parents in focus. Nonetheless Disney fails to avoid worrying trends to 'barbiefy' the faeries into slender voluptuous dolls. Never a Disney classic, but solidly entertaining with some dazzling Indian made animation (apparently a stark improvement on previous Tinker Bell movies) and enchanting enough to satisfy youth, while not dissuading adults.

If you've never seen a Tinkerbell film please don't be put off by thinking they are only for kids or for girls
Each of the Tinkerbell films is very different from all its siblings in many distinctive ways. The Secret of the Wings is no exception. The stories are always of the highest standard. This time the narrative is developed at a fairly gentle pace for almost half the film, allowing the viewer to acquire quite a thorough empathy for the bonding feelings between Tinkerbell and her newly discovered sister, Periwinkle. The second half of the film has plenty of excitement, action and suspense. Tinkerbell's inventiveness and powers of observation are brought to the fore in a race to save nothing less than the whole of Pixie Hollow. Interacting with the winter fairies introduces us to many new characters as well as showing us the icily beautiful wonderland that the winter fairies inhabit. The background music is also excellent and there are some lovely and well sung songs. This is the first Tinkerbell film I've seen on a cinema screen and I absolutely loved the experience. If you've never seen a Tinkerbell film please don't be put off by thinking they are only for kids or for girls. I'm a 68 year old male and I (and my son) love them! Can't wait to add Secret of the Wings to my Tinkerbell blue ray collection (but will hopefully see it again at the cinema before it ends its run).

A perfect children's movie
Tinkerbell and the Secret of the Wings is ultimately and obviously a children's movie (For young girls in particular). From the dialog to the characters, the music and the colors, it is a movie all children would enjoy.

Although there have been many previous Tinkerbell movies, this one concentrates on Tinkerbell and her background. As Tinkerbell becomes fascinated with the forbidden Winter Forest and the Winter Fairies, she embarks on a journey of self discovery and adventure as we delve into her past and explore where she came from.

Like all Disney movies, this movie has big, bold colors, realistic textures, and of course, 3D. We see swooping shots of caricatured forests, glistening glaciers, and picturesque little animals. And once you get over the obviously cheesy dialog, it's actually not a bad film. I wouldn't see it on my own, but if you're looking for something to see with your 7 year old daughter/niece, it's the perfect choice. There's something there for both genders, and it has the feel-good factor of a classic Disney animation.

Although this is not as good as other Disney's movies, such as Up and How to Train Your Dragon, it's a nice, 'pretty' movie. Overlook the wincing humor, and enjoy this film with kids, who will no doubt find the wit hilarious. Try to make it a family day, overpriced popcorn and drinks included.

Find Magic Agan in the World of Fairies
I loved this movie. I don't have kids, but I love so many movies for kids because many of them are safe for viewing and they hold a magic absent from adult movies. I didn't find this one to have those ever increasing double entendre jokes that are meant to entertain adults with their children. I also like that there wasn't a villain, unless you would consider the quickly approaching freeze line a villain.

I didn't find the dialogue cheesy like others have mentioned. I found the animation to be spectacular, the story simple and pleasing (who needs complicated stories anyway? We have enough of those in our own world.), and the characters vibrant. I did have two points of contention. First, the first Tinker Bell movie depicts winter fairies when Tinker Bell is born and then chooses her talent. One of them puts a snowflake in the talent circle. They seem to be fine and aren't in danger of their wings wilting. The minister of winter flies with other warm fairies outside of the winter woods and seems fine, too. As a reviewer elsewhere stated, how do they fly to the mainland to bring winter if they can't get warm? Second, there is a character who is a comic relief that seems like he was fashioned after pothead/stoner characters, which I don't like. At one point he is meditating yogi style to bring back the pixie dust. I would rather see a praying character, as they are rare, but as Disney doesn't eliminate them entirely from other movies, I'll hold my peace on this one.

Overall, though, I really liked this movie. I can overlook my points of contention because there is enough to redeem the film.

Good movie for kids
We took our 3.5 year old daughter and a friend of hers to see the movie and they enjoyed it very much. It's good to see a movie with no villain and evil antagonists, and much like the previous Tinkerbell movies we saw before (on TV) this movie is a great joy for little kids. I see its currently low ratings in IMDb and it bugs me that people are rating children movies as if they were meant for adults... Yeah, for me and my wife the movie was pretty simplistic (don't go to see it without the kids :)) but for children it was excellent. Good graphics and great visuals, Good story, No scary things for young children, Not too long for children to sit through, Includes famous beloved character and characters from previous movies. a clear 10/10

Cute and Beautifully Animated, But One Big Slip.
I liked this movie a lot, it was cute, beautiful, and sweet. However, I couldn't enjoy the movie as much as I would've because of a big slip in a plot line: In the first movie, a snowflake talent fairy greets Tinkerbell with a snowflake, if that were to have been her talent. The pixie dust tree is a "warm" meadow, however, but the snowflake fairy was fine there. Also, Clank and Bobble show Tinkerbell around, and going through the winter woods, they had no problem. What happened to the minister of winter? Because I don't remember a "Lord Miliori" anywhere in that picture. The movie was good, just doesn't follow the other movies.
